Tuesday's Treasure ~ Ginger Jars

It's been a while since we've gone on a TT&B treasure hunt but I have been hunting and want to bring you up to speed!
Ginger jars.
Love them.
So many things you can do with them; they go everywhere! While I don't have any surfaces to put them at the moment (another post to come on that, I need some bookshelves!) but that doesn't mean I can't start collecting!

So, here we go. Ginger jars.
Ginger jars have a long line of history amongst Chinese culture. According to most resources, "A Ginger Jar is shaped with a wide mouth, a domed lid and a bulging, bulbous spherical hand painted body. They come in various styles and sizes and in many different colors. The true Chinese antique Ginger Jar is made of porcelain and hand painted. The jars acquired the name “Ginger Jars” because they often contained ginger (which was one of the most valuable spices at the time) when they were exported to the West."

So my lovelies, Ginger Jar treasures to fill your home on this fine Tuesday!

Thursday's Townhouse Treasure!

I have always loved Brook Shields so when I came across Architectural Digest's fabulous spread of her Manhattan townhouse (technically, her Greenwich Village townhouse) it came as no surprise that I fell in love with the impeccable decor and design work.

Living in this fabulous abode would make NYC a cinch!

PS - speaking of Shields, who remembers NBC's show Lipstick Jungle starring Brook aka Wendy, Nico and Victory? Man, I loved that show! How could they have pulled it after just two season's?!? Disgraceful!

Fabulous foyer

Love the Louis XVI-style chairs and the 1970s lucite cocktail table -- works perfectly in this room

So many fabulous elements to this cozy sitting room: Tub Chairs by Stephen Miller Siegel, a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk, zebra skin rug, wonderful throws... and it goes on!

Kitchen

Love all the pictures propped along the ledge in the family room -- afterall, who wouldn't love to have Annie Leibovitz photograph you and your Mom?! I would kill for my own Leibovitz!

Shields's Study

Dining Room

Master Bedroom complete with John Robshaw block-printed linens

No surprise Shields's closet is fabulous!! Every girl's dream to have a rolling shoe rack and closet that requires a library ladder!

Master Bath

Guest bedroom painted in Benjamin Moore's Grizzly Bear Brown -- never would have picked the brown but it definitely works in this intimate guest room!

The drawing hung here in the hallway was actually used to wrap a gift Shield's received -- how cool!

Wedneday's Wonder - A Fresh Calendar!

Call me old fashion but I still need a calendar at my desk! I know, I know, we are living in a day filled with electronic contraptions designed to organize our life, but I still can't live without a calendar.
Not to mention, there is something ceremonial about starting a fresh, new calendar year with a fresh new calendar and getting to rip off each month - I especially get excited ripping off the next couple of months in anticipation for spring and summer!

So, in case you are still searching for the perfect 2012 calendar - whether it be for your office, home desk, kitchen window sill, vanity, etc, - here are a few of my latest favorites.

Cheers to January's clean slate!!

It's Friday, I'm In Love... with These Closets!

TGIF my friends! Don't know about you but this week has been a doozy!
It's time for me to face the inevitable this weekend and flip my closet.
I despise putting away summer clothes knowing there are so many months of cold, snow, and ice between me and the next time I can wear all of the bright clothes,
But I don't tolerate being cold so gotta do whatcha gotta do...
Thumbing through, looking at these beautiful closets makes this weekends task seem a little more tolerable... maybe one day we can call one of these dressing rooms our own!

Cheers to a closet filled with bliss!
