No Need to Fret Work ..... Just Surround Yourself with Fretwork!!!

I just couldn't resist the terrible pun!
(or maybe I've just lost my marbles?!)
But thankfully, we're all friends here.

I love fretwork and admittedly never knew it by the term Fretwork. So, when I learned this term I wanted to share (and couldn't hold back on the corny joke either.)

So to get technical for a minute....
According to sources, Fretwork describes an interlaced decorative pattern (usually geometric) in design.
Fretwork is a carpentry technique of cutting thin pieces of wood with a fine-bladed saw (called a fret saw) to form shapes or patterns. The fretwork pattern might be left “open” (meaning you can see through it), as often seen on mirrors (see above) or table galleries, or it might be “blind”, meaning it’s carved into or applied to a solid surface and therefore can’t be seen through.

So, here's to not fretting work today - or the rest of this week!
Enjoy some lovely Fretwork instead!

Fretwork chairs bring a splash of color to this black and white kitchen.

Fabulous fretwork wingback chair

Moroccan-inspired pocket door with fretwork! Would love to know where this leads...

The fretwork and mirror combo above these windows (you might have to look closely to tell) really extends the windows and creates a wonderful effect.

Tuft Lovin' Tuesday!

I love the added dimension and drama of tufted furniture. Fabric takes on a whole new look once it is tufted - creating texture, sheen, etc.
Tufting is no longer used just to secure cushions to the back of furniture - it is now more for looks and I'm loving it!

Wednesday's Wonder - The Louis Berger Chair!

When I saw Lonny's new Trad Home publication last night, I was immediately in love.  For lots of reasons but for starters, I love the fun little video of Jonathan Adler and Charlotte Moss' convo and was so excited to hear that such design icons agree that a Louis Berger Chair is the best traditional investment piece!
I love and have blogged many-a Louis chair before - and still adore the Louis ghost chair - so I couldn't agree more that a Louis Berger Chair is a must have.

I am now officially on the hunt for the perfect one....

Wednesday is all about the Windsor Chair!

A recent trip to Mount Vernon (for an evening of wine tasting nonetheless) led to today's inspiration.

Often recognized as the seats George Washington had at Mount Vernon, these English wooden chairs (with distinctive spindle backs) known as Windsor Chairs are still handmade using traditional methods.

A traditional chair never goes out of style!
Happy Wednesday!

Happy Thursday!

This caught my eye and I just had to share!
How great are these chairs? And love the zebra skin rug under the table.
